UNIMAS
KAYAK TEAM

OUR STORY
Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) implemented the cocurriculum
(also known as "Senggang") the year 2005 to 2010. There are 3 categories offered such as
Uniform Bodies (Badan Beruniform), Club and Association (Kelab dan Persatuan) and Sports and
Games (Sukan dan Permainan). Kayak is one of the activity under the Sports and Games category and it is
known as the UNIMAS Kayak Club.
In 2011, "Senggang" was replaced with the new co-curriculum system.
However, the new system leans more towards theories in the classroom instead of practical.
It was made compulsory for the students to take up the cocurriculum as a prerequisite subject in one of their semesters to be able to graduate.
Although the UNIMAS Kayak Club was dismissed, the athletes were still active representing
UNIMAS in water sports competitions. Therefore, the UNIMAS Kayak Team was established
and its members are made up of students with potential or had represented UNIMAS in kayak competitions.
After an impressive performance during MASUM and SUKPIT in 2012, the team continues to thrive
and giving their best to be the best for UNIMAS.
